The incident happened on Wednesday, Aug. 9 just after 9:45 p.m., when members of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department were sent to the Lincoln Hall Boys' Haven at 145 Route 202 on reports of smoke in the building.
According to the fire department, arriving crews found a light haze and burning smell inside the school and soon found a contained dryer fire in the building's basement.
A hose line was then quickly used to extinguish the blaze.
After around an hour and a half, units were able to return to service, the department reported.
